Voltage Regulator

As I had started evaluating our engine electrical components, it appeared our engine was without a voltage regulator. Inspection of photos, and the firewall of the car, seemed to indicate it was missing.

Much to my delight, we had two vintage regulators in our stash of parts.

It was unclear which was correct for our Super 90, if either. Thanks to the helpful folks at 356 registry, we uncovered some documentation that seemed to indicate we had a candidate.

According to DerWhites Bosche reference, one of ours (Model RS/UA 160/6/24) was correct for Carreras and Super 90 “To Engine # P-800.148”.

Our engine number is 800698, which appears to be outside the window. I realize there are exceptions to the 356 rules. It seems like too much a coincidence that we have this regulator. I guess someone could have swapped it out somewhere along the line…

Next action is to see if we can locate a date code. I’ve not found it thus far.
