We are gathered here today to celebrate the joining of these two case halves. The case went together mostly without issue. Crank turns easily in the torqued together case. Sealed the halves with Permatex Aviation Form-A-Gasket. Not to much oozed out when torqued up, but a little. Would like to believe that’s a good sign regarding mating surfaces. Yea for progress!
As usual, some oddness discovered along the way. The previous engine builder apparently used a bunch of the beveled acorn nut washers on the engine case (part number 616.101.191.00). There were only meant to be 7, but I had 15. Perhaps he used them for head washers. Luckily have have new head washers from Stoddard.
I also found that the case through bolt (aka tensioning device) 616.101.171.00 is too long at 230 mm. Not sure what’s up with that…
