Porsche 914 Restorer’s Guide to Authenticity
There is a super helpful thread that goes into detail on 914World, but in summary:
Original appears to have been Wurth Body Shutz for the texture, with a Satin Black enamel over that. Shutz requires a spray gun and some trial and error, which I’m not ready to attempt.
For DIYer, the best suggestion appears to be a combination of TexCoat Chip Guard Black for the texture and Wurth satin black trim paint for finish. We will need to spray out some of the texture and see how close it is to the rocker covers. If it’s not a real close match, I may be tempted to run with the primer look for a while. I was never planning for this to be a restoration project, but more a lets get it safely and reliably on the road. 914-6 rat rod!
