I often get impatient, which is usually not a good thing. It does however something lead me to coming up with some creative uses for things. In this case, a very questionable use of tools.
Example one is I needed to polish the shaft of distributor which was stained and pitted. It was going s-l-o-w-l-y doing it by hand, and if I was going to get a hand cramp I wanted it to be from something more fun than this. To my surprise I was able to fit it in my drill press. Then I just held Scotch-Brite pad against it. Sweet! I don’t know how safe this was, but it worked out OK for me.
Another polishing challenge was the groove inside the body of the distributor. I couldn’t quite get something into the corner to scrub out the years old deposits. What needed up working great was a 3/4-inch socket to force a section of Scotch-Brite pad down into the offending area.
Don’t try this at home! Or do, at your own risk.
