I’m Responsible for the Guns N’ Roses Reunion

I get seriously pissed off when someone takes credit for another person’s efforts. Thanks to Steven Tyler’s recent comments, I feel the need to speak up. Long story short, I’m responsible for inspiring Guns N’ Roses to reunite. It would be fair of you to ask, how could a nobody in the world of music make such an outlandish claim. It’s all thanks to a failed Kickstarter effort.

In February of 2015, I started an ambitious effort to stage a series of Guns N’ Roses “reunion” tours featuring a cloned Axl Rose. Despite substantial planning and serious attention to detail, Kickstarter declined my campaign. Several attempts to appeal and work within their guidelines were also rejected. Thanks for nothing Kickstarter. Do you even read your own rules before sending vague canned email replies?

While the campaign never went live for funding, Kickstarter does maintain the content from shared campaign drafts. I am convinced that through the beauty of folks sharing bits on the interwebs, this campaign was seen by Axl and / or his management team, and it effectively lit a fire under their ass. Was the clone a long shot? Yes. Would it be anything nearly as great as the one true Axl? No. But if it came together, it could have been a serious threat to a real reunion. If Slash toured with clone Axl, would he have toured with real Axl too? Would fans pay to see both?

So it’s as simple as that. I lit a fire, and that’s all I ever wanted.

Did Tyler talk to Axl? Who knows? Who cares? At the end of the day, the only people who can take true responsibility for this monumental reunion are Axl, Slash, and Duff. Hopefully we will be able to add Izzy to that list.

Wheres Izzy
