Given the broken stud on the reconditioned 912 .01 rods, I was lacking confidence on the remaining 3 and prepared to go another route entirely.
My intention was to bite the bullet on cost and use Carillo. They have a great reputation, responsive support, and don’t seem to suffer from the issue of not being able to clear the camshaft without modification. They have two 356 / 912 options in their catalog and are recommended part ID 8663 as it offered the most clearance.
Much to my dismay, my supplier backed out of the Carillo option. So I’m back to using a set of EO Porsche 912 .01 rods. Magnafluxed. Reconditioned. Balanced. They are not balanced as well as previously, but still within the 15 grams overall weight that Porsche allows
