Doing things the first time, it’s not always obvious why things are the way they are. When it comes to Porsche engines, there certainly seems a reason for everything. Case and point, the head bolts
It would appear at first glance that I can use any of the head bolts in any position to secure the head. The one with the narrow brim must be to make room for the one next to it with the wide brim in the middle positions. The order of this surely wouldn’t matter. You would be wrong.
It is not until you get to the rocker stands that the position becomes clear. The wide brim bolts are threaded in the top, which is necessary in order to bolt down the rocker stands.
