Received the Reutter coach-builder Certificate of Production from Erlkönig Classic today. Not a cheap piece of documentation, but an interesting bit of history. It is very nicely presented. Had hoped to learn a little more about the car. The sunroof in particular.
The only new information, beyond what we already had from the Porsche Certificate of Authenticity and Kardex scan is:
- Reutter delivered the car to Porsche on April 29, 1960
- Steering column was black
- Wheels were “Chrome-effect” paint
- Knobs were black
- Confirmation that headliner was beige / gray artificial leather
- Radio plate was apparently provided from Reutter
No options listed. I guess I’ll resort to quoting Forrest Gump in an attempt to make this post witty. Vintage Porsche documentation is like a box of chocolates. You never know what you’re gonna get. I was hoping for the one with caramel inside, which would have been some indication of a sunroof.
I may resort to hiring a private investigator to learn the ownership history on this car and learn where that sunroof came from.
