Another part shared with the 911, meaning several different flavors and potential compatibility issues. The HUB EXTENSION COMPLETE BLACK, part number 911-106-033-00 is known by a variety of names. Which makes it harder (err more fun) to find one to buy since they are NLA. Let’s try every possible variation of Air, Cooling, Fan, Alternator, or Hub combined with Duct, Guide, Deflector, Housing, Deflector, Extension, Hub, and Shield. Unfortunately, what I think it most looks like (torpedo) is not in the mix.
This bolts to the back of the alternator (aka generator) and is hidden from view by the main fan shroud (aka upper air guide). No visible part number. They can be found in 3, 5, and 6 mounting hole varieties. Metal or plastic fins. With and without cut-outs for voltage regulator. 911 forums suggest they can be mixed, but there could be clearance issues (at least on the 911) depending on your alternator depth.
Research (i.e. many tedious questions asked at 914World and delving in the 911 circles) suggests 914-6 would have 6 mounting holes, and no notch for the regulator as that was mounted elsewhere.
Porsche parts catalogs indicate it was shared with 1970-73 911 and 1978-83 911 Turbo. Though a Porsche Technical Bulletin indicates that in 1982, the part was modified to provide an opening for the regulator which is now mounted on the alternator.
